Pomona Valley Audubon General Meeting

It wasn't held at Claremont, alas, but a Community Center.

Presentations by the Pomona College students were quite technical and too fast. I was struggling to keep up, especially what with limited hearing ability. So stared intensely at those girls' lips to try lip reading lol. The meeting finished after 2 hrs, was totally exhausted by then, what with long traveling throughout the day.

Bought some books though;

Field guide by Henry Childs, around LA County
Peterson Field Guides/ Birds of Texas
A Guide to Bird Finding West of the Mississippi by Olin Sewall Pettingill, Jr.
A Field Guide to the Birds of Britain and Europe by Peterson, Guy Mountfor and P.A.D. Hollom
Birds of the Middle East and North Africa by P.A.D. Hollom, R.F. Porter, S. Christensen, Ian Willis.

Toss in various snackss and tea, paid generously $10; worth it? Of course, already skimming through that Classic, Pettingill, and learning more and more; decided to visit Big Bear Lake, maybe on the way to EB.
Childs one should be quite useful too, to explore the LA County area more fully.

In fact, so fruitful was the 'buying spree' lol, decided to visit every general meetings by the local Audubon Chapters if I can!  Acorn Woodpecker t shirt was quite tempting, but ran out of cash yesterday, ugh, and the staff said you have to buy at the General Meeting, no separate building to go to buy it :(
