Why SD county is king

So close yet so far!

Pt. Loma area(down to Cabrillo) really is exceptional. Maybe because it's along migratory path.

The reason why SD boasts the most bird species seen, trumping Los Angeles!

However hard LA county experts like the Garretts(not related), Feenstra, Dowell, Tiller etc. try, SD experts like McCaskie, Lehman, Bruin, Nunn, Sadowski, Christensen, etc. will invariably discover yet more species! Even a novice like me found an alternate plumage adult male Cape May Warbler at Famosa slough.

Kern county seems quite exceptional as well: should explore the area!

Kern county birding

Did not know it is THIS good.

Worm eating and Kentucky warbler last month?!! Should add this county to my ebird alert..

2 good books regarding warbler songs

Dunn/Garrett's Warblers

Dunne's Essential Field Guide Companion.

Very detailed description of songs, so quite helpful for novice birders like me. I've bought the former, maybe should buy Dunne's as well lol.

Louisiana waterthrush? Probably not

Song ending in Whitchew.
Heard it today6/6, but where, at San Diego or Canyon Park in Orange County lol.

P.S. Almost certainly confused with Yellow or Hooded warbler song at Canyon park(Dunne).

ADULT MALE ALTERNATE PLUMAGE CAPE MAY WARBLER AT FAMOSA!

http://ebird.org/ebird/edit/checklist?subID=S37415113

5:30pm today.
Famosa Slough, south end, middle puddle next to hobo tent(it wasn't there last August during the National, not good).
Was being harassed? by House Sparrow, naughty birds! Stayed some time at the puddle, that was curious.

Not only did I spot adult male alternate plumage Bay breasted Warbler, also White-eyed Vireo at Point Loma upper residential area(just opposite Point Loma univ) thanks to prominent SD birder Nancy Christensen..

Checked ebird and alternate plumage one hasn't been seen at So. Cal for at least 10 YEARS! Methinks.
Eh, but what's this:
