Palomar Audubon

Birders visiting SD really should consult its field trips.

For example

Dairy Mart Pond/Tijuana River Valley Field Trip

August 29 @ 8:00 am - 11:30 am

Rating: Easy to Moderate (Mostly flat dirt trails and some paved walkways)
76 different species of birds have been seen by PAS at the location this time of year.
Directions:
From North County, take I-15 south and merge with the I-5 south to the Dairy Mart Road Exit. Turn right on Dairy Mart Road (south). Meet just past the concrete bridge next to the large “TJRV Park” sign and the large pond on the west side of Dairy Mart Road.
We will also caravan a short distance to the TJRV Park Headquarters (2721 Monument Road) (public restroom and bird feeders) and then visit the nearby Bird & Butterfly Gardens (2300 block of Hollister St) where we might see the elusive Black-throated Magpie Jay.
No restrooms at Dairy Mart Pond and ones at Bird & Butterfly are usually closed.

E bird mentions the same location, should've tried that part yesterday lol.
