8/24 Hahamongna birding

Actually arrived later than last time, around 8am, but much more productive.

This time, those eucalyptus trees were quite alive with birds!  Not only there

Description by Chris Dean at ebird is accurate about the location;

"West of the southern wooden/rusty walking bridge there is a path that descends and there are two eucalyptus trees on the west side of the path"

,the pond adjacent to Devil's Dam as well. I only recently discovored this gem of a spot, by just standing right next to the pond, you can see various warblers right above the euc trees(that's the problem, of course; you have to look up). Common Yellowthroats, as well. Not only that, even a Downy? Woodpecker(what patch along the middle of the back) flew over and began to peck on a bark midst of the pond(I think Woodpeckers are one of the hardest to spot, except easy ones like Acorn). Couple of Orioles as well, females, but not sure which, Hooded or Bullock, yellow from below so probably Hooded. And most of all, it's SHADED(by eucs)! Perfect lol. Probably one of the most bird-intensive single spots I've ever stood on lol.

Wilson and Yellow Warblers I'm prety sure(Yellow was at the euc, and my first? Wilson was on the bush opposite it, 2nd one I spotted at the pond), and there's actually an another hotspot, it's the whole road to the bridge, after you cross the field. Lots of activitives, but many birds fly over to the west side(that is, to the sunny east, so impossible to locate, over the tall bushes).  In early summer spotted a variety of flycatchers, mostly perching on the electric lines.

This spot really is a gem, very looking forward to PAS birdwalk in Sep. 5th, didn't try it before.

But before that I urgently need to spot Bell's Vireo and Yellow-Breasted Chat, those two are said to appear till August...!  Today did spot a bird with a fairly prominent eyering, dunno what bird it is thought, weather a Vireo or Warbler.  Get to take pics less now, to intent on studying through binoc and there's simply no time to zoom on it anyway.

Oh PAS member Darren Dowell? passed by, he was on the way back, acknowledged each other lol.  First thought of using my scope but decided against it, he wasn't carrying it either(he usually always carry it during field trips).

Maybe I should come again earlier to spot those elusive Blue Grosbeak and Indigo Bunting..
