Feb 16 Ballona, Malibu birding

So, decided to go to Pepperdine. Hence, decided to visit from Ballona onward, and it didn't disappoint!  First had trouble finding the place itself lol so asked a pretty girl driving a car, and she graciously activated her phone to guide me, and moreover, took me for a short ride and offered me a Girl scout cookie as well!!! So overwhelmed lol, maybe I should've at least asked her name or something.

Couldn't really park at Jefferson Blvd, but could park at the Playa Vista Park, so all was good. Just a dirt trail along the marsh, the marsh itself is barred from the public, but it was enough. White crowned? Sparrows, Savannah Sparrows, American Coots, Wigeons, Northen Shovelers, Ruddy Ducks, Mallards, Grackle(Great Tailed?), Brewer's Blackbird, Red-Winged Blackbird(Male), Warblers, Gadwall, Great Egret, and a Cormorant! Cormorants' typical pose really looks like those middle aged perverts' who like to 'perform' in front of high school girls wearing only a long coat...and nothing inside lol!

Anyhow, mucho impressed.

And was even more impressed at Malibu Lagoon State Beach!  The parking was free, didn't know that(just parked across the road), and it was absolutely fantastic!!! More shorebirds, 1st rate facility and explanation posts....dream come true! Met an elderly birding couple so wished them happy birding!  Simply a GREAT experience.  Also stopped for a couple of times at PCH 1 to explore other locations; Legacy Park was great, too. The Bluff Park right opposite Pepperdine as well.  Two kinds of birds were among the bush and were too shy, so couldn't take a pic, though.

Utterly exhausted, hope I'm up for Hansen Dam and Descanso tomorrow!
Will upload pics later.
